Résumé : |
The Omeyyad era was full of diverse political, doctrinal and intellectual struggles. These struggles didn’t remain in these domains but rather stretched to the literary ground and were manifested by poets of different orientations yet gathered by that struggle charged with dialectic and argumentation. In this regard, each poet strong of his conviction, tried to persuade others by opposing all that went in contrary with it depending
on his poetical talent supported by arguments and proofs.
The controversies came at the top of poetry resulted from the struggles of the Omeyyad era more particularly the poetry produced by Jarir ,El-Ferezdak and El-Akhtal.
It is well-know that the controversies are based on two main pillars: pride and satire. That is to say,the first poet glorified himself and his tribe;on the contrary he attributed all shames and disgraces to adversary poet and his tribe exploiting all that enabled him to persuade others with his assumptions and pretending. From his part ,the second poet tried to defeat his adversary by confuting his assumptions depending on different argumentations and convincing styles.
From this point of view, the controversies are literary disputes based on reciprical accusations and the trial to confute them by different means which make the others yield and accept the given propositions, which are the cause of competition and disagreement between poets, for granted. Being based on the glorification of the self, from one hand, and the defeat of the adversary, on the other hand, make the controversies full of argumentation at different levels.
In this research, I dealt with the various argumentative mechanisms wich Jarir and El-farezdak used in their controversies; hence came this research entitled:
“argumentation in the controversies of Jarir and El-farazdak –a study in the structure and the styles- “ and I divided it to four chapters.
The first chapter entitled:”argumentation and poetry-theoretical approaches” is subdivided to four axes. The first axis is devoted to clarify the concept of argumentations presented in dictionaries and its relation with terms that interfere with it. The second axis is devoted to the study of argumentation as incarnated in the ancient Greek philosophy of Sophists, Plato and Aristotel ;and among the ancient Arab rhetorists such as: EL-jahiz, Ibn
wahb,Essokkaki and El-kartajani. highlighting this chapter would be incomplete without
dealing with argumentation in the noble Coran.
The third axis focuses on the efforts of modern researchers in two stands. The first stand is devoted to the efforts of werstern scholars: Chaim Perelman and Tyteca, Stephen |
