The changes and developments which took shape in the nineties and the consequent new economic data on the international level, required the creation of a new mechanisms and formulas to deal with and the integration into the new international economic system. One of the most important features and characteristics of this new system is its tendency to the creation of economic conglomerates which became the most important effectiveness of the international relations and the most influential ones. The European Union is one of those conglomerates. It is an effective pole in the orientation of the international relations and the effect on the international commerce. It took the initiative to propose the euromediterranean partnership project which dates back to the seventies. Thus, it tried to stretch its influence in the Mediterranean region through the ratification of many conventions to cooperate with each mediterranean country on its own, which was in effect till the organization of Barcelone conference on 1995 in which it is announced what is called Barcelone Process of the Euromediterranean Partnership. Algeria isn’t far from these changes, hence its economic and financial relations with the European union has been always characterized with interdependence as this later is considered as its first economic partner, in addition to other factors concerning history, geographic site, and other social factors. Those facts lead Algeria to express its attention to join the association process and to turn it into reality by the official signing of the association convention on April 22nd , 2002 and which took effect in 2005. The partnership in the energy sector and especially in the natural gas domain is considered as one of the principal axis’ which the European union tries to develop with Algeria under the tensions known by the sector in the last years. From this point, this study tried to show the natural gas’ position in the association between Algeria and European union. The study confirmed that the role of the hydrocarbonic sector is very important in the development of the algerian economy and that the position occupied by the natural gas is of great significance in the sector. Furthermore, the Algerian natural gas plays a great role in the development of the international gas-commerce dynamism on one hand, and to activate the euroalgerian association on the other hand. |
