The work of this thesis is part of the continuity of research on antennas both miniature and multi-band. The first part is devoted to the theoretical study of the antennas that apply in the field of telecommunications, different techniques of miniaturization and multi-band technology. Turning to the description of the finite difference method in the FDTD time domain, this method and two other software programs (the Ansoft HFSS and the CST Microwave Studio) are used to calculate the electromagnetic characteristics and to study the effects of certain parameters on the performance of planar rectangular monopole antennas with a slot and two slots. The second area of research focuses on the development of original miniature antennas that can meet the needs of today's wireless systems based on slot insertion and the use of fractal shapes to reduce the size of antenna. The first structure is an antenna with ground plane slots that operates in two bands at 2.4 GHz (WLAN) and 3.75 GHz (WiMAX). The second flower-shaped fractal antenna with a defective ground plane provides three 2.4 GHz (Bluetooth), 3.6 GHz (WiMAX) and 5.8 GHz (WLAN) resonance frequencies.Note de contenu :

A theoretical study of a rectangular and circular microstrip antennas was carried out in this thesis. A rigorous analysis based on an electric field integral equation was used for the characterization of these structures. The integral equation of the electric field is formulated in term of the Green spectral tensor by using the moment method, based on the Galerkin's procedure which discretizes this equation to give place to a system of homogeneous equations . In the procedure of resolution by the moment method, the choice of the basic functions constitutes originality owing to the fact that the effect of various parameters on directivity is taken into account. The exactitude of the developed model shows a very precise agreement between the results obtained and those of the literature. The current of a rectangular patch is calculated by the application of a various basic functions, the study of a new type of basic function allowed us to a simplified algebraic formulation and a much reduced computing time. The developed asymptotic forms are of the type: sinusoid basis function without and with edge condition, Chebychev polynomials with the edge condition, and the roof top functions. Also we developed a model of calculation by the application of the sinusoid basis functions for a rectangular patch antenna excited by a microstrip line, the currents on this line are developed and the input resistance is calculated. Our own software was established to calculate the macroscopic characteristic such as the resonant frequency, the input resistance, the radiation, the directivity ...
A variational form for the input impedance is obtained giving results which agree well with measurements. Also the theoretical formulation of the rectangular patch antenna excited by an electromagnetic coupling (proximity) is given, finally the study of a new model of calculation which take into account the effect of the surface resistance as well as the effect of the uniaxial anisotropy in the substrate is presented. The necessary terms to represent the surface resistance of the rectangular patch are derived and included in the integral equation in the form of a resistance matrix; the results prove that the addition of such a resistance decreases the antenna dispersed energy.Note de contenu : Annexes.
