The Standard Model is well known to be a satisfactory and consistent theoretical
description of all the experimental data we have obtained so far. The essential piece
of electroweak symmetry breaking - the Higgs boson - which has been discovered
at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN , in 2012 allows to particle physics
community to obtain a new understanding of the physics beyond our current limits.
With the up-grade energies in hadronic colliders, new discoveries will be made; but
we will require a deeper understanding, which the LHC machine,will not be able
to elucidate. Instead, we will need an e+e− collider to make precision measurements of the newly discovered phenomena. The International Linear Collider (ILC)
and Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) are proposed future accelerators which will
require of order 1014 positrons per second to fulfil their luminosity requirements.
The proposed Muon Collider machine and in particular, the neutrino factory will
give opportunities for heavy flavor physics. In chapter 4 we analyze a classe of
beyond-the-Standard Model (BSM). A minimal U(1) extension of the SM, related
to B − L number provides the existance of a new Z0 gauge boson . We present the
phenomenology, the discovery potential at the LHC, and the experimental limits of
the new particle in this model. |
