Alluvial aquifer hydrochemistry piezometry wadi Djendjen Jijel |

Résumé : |
The alluvial plain of of wadi Djendjen is located in the north east of Algeria, it forms part of
the coastal plains of Jijel region, it occupies the downstream part of its watershed and form a
unconfined aquifer contained in Quaternary alluvium. In this region, the groundwater is the
main source of the water. The industrial and especially agricultural development associated
with demographic growth deteriorates more and more the quality of these resources.
The main objective of this work is to check the current status of the groundwater chemistry
of the plain. For this, a campaign piezometric measurements and water sampling was carried
out during the month of April 2018. The review of the piezometric map allowed us to
understand the hydrodynamics of the aquifer system and its relationship with its environment.
It shows that the flow perfectly follows the topography of the plain where the main flow
direction is South North direction with convergent current lines to a privileged axis of
drainage in right bank of wadi Djendjen. The interpretation of the analytical results by the
different methods shows that the strong mineralization of the water stored in the downstream
part of the Plain (1000-1500 μS/cm),with a dominance of two chemical facies; bicarbonate
and calcium chlorinated. The mapping of the different parameters shows that the strong
concentrations observed at the right bank of wadi Djendjen, which considered the old bed of
the wadi Djendjen.
