when using the simple past tense. It seeks to investigate the different intralingual errors within
this grammatical category, and to see to what extent learners make errors in using this tense.
These intralingual errors which are deviations that arise from the norms of the target language
itself are identified, described and explained. In this study, we relied on a grammatical test
that consists of ten isolated sentences where learners were asked to put the verbs between
brackets in the appropriate tense, and a questionnaire for middle school teachers. These two
tools were used to check the hypothesis put forward by sorting out the intralingual errors
following a quantitative and qualitative treatment. The hypothesis which stated that most
errors produced by fourth year middle school Algerian learners of English when using the
simple past tense are of an intralingual nature was confirmed,i.e. the results revealed that most
errors committed by fourth year middle school Algerian learners when using the simple past
tense are intralingual errorsDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6787 An analysis of intralingual errors at the level of the simple past tense in english : A case study of fourth year pupils at khoualdia salah middle school - constantine [texte imprimé] / Chiraz Meraihia, Auteur ; Amel Soucha, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 69 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : An Overview of Politeness in Relation to Academic Setting Politeness in Relation to Academic Setting. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This study is concerned with the influence of politeness in improving the awareness and
performance of Second Year students at the Department of Letters and the English
Language at Mentouri Brothers University. It focuses mainly on examining the
relationship between the students' awareness and success in using politeness in their
speaking quality. Besides, it attempts to detect the influence that politeness provides on
students’ perception of language in terms of using direct and indirect speech acts as well
as face-saving and face-threatening acts. The purpose of this research can be summed up
as follows; identifying the positive effect of politeness on learners' appropriate use of
English, investigating if learners are aware of politeness terminology and how it is used,
and finding out whether learners can improve their speaking qualities through
developing awareness. Hence, it was hypothesized that if students use Politeness
effectively, they will improve their awareness and their appropriate use of language, and
therefore, they will understand the lectures better. In the pursuit to achieve these aims,
two research instruments were adopted: a students' questionnaire designed using
Microsoft Word and administered in classrooms concurrently to forty (40) Second Year
students of English, and observation which is carried out inside a classroom of thirty
(30) students. The study's findings revealed that students act politely when they are in
the classroom; however, sometimes they get distracted by other factors such as talking to
a classmate or using a phone, as result, they will not concentrate on the lecture, so, they
will not understand it better, which means that the hypothesis was confirmed. In other
words, awareness, better understanding, and better performance will be achieved if
learners use politeness efficiently, which contributes to enhancing their speaking quality.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15813 An Evaluation on the Use of Politeness Codes and Strategies in Classrooms by Students of English as a Foreign Language The case of second year EFL students at Mentouri Brothers University, Constantine 1 [texte imprimé] / Oussama Draidi, Auteur ; Amel Soucha, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 59 f. ; 30 cm.

Format : 30cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Vocabulary Learning Vocabulary Teaching Vocabulary acquisition. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Vocabulary acquisition is a fundamental aspect for learning any foreign language. The
secondary school period is a vital stage for enriching the learners’ lexical knowledge. Therefore,
the present study aims at investigating the vocabulary learning strategies used by secondary
school learners. Moreover, it attempts to examine the vocabulary teaching techniques adopted
by secondary school teachers. It is hypothesized that students at the intermediate level will
adopt a range of vocabulary learning strategies to enrich their vocabulary knowledge. Similarly,
secondary school teachers will implement a variety of vocabulary teaching techniques to
enhance the learners’ lexical knowledge. In order to check the validity of the two
aforementioned hypotheses, two questionnaires are used to collect the required data. The first
questionnaire is directed to 38 second year students at Mouloud Quassem High School and the
other one is administered to all teachers of English at the same school. The findings reveal that
students at the intermediate level use a variety of vocabulary learning strategies to expand their
vocabulary repertoire. Likewise, secondary school teachers do indeed implement a variety of
vocabulary teaching techniques to facilitate the learning process which result in increasing their
students’ vocabulary. The obtained results confirm the stated hypotheses, more specifically, it
is deduced that there is a correspondence between the vocabulary learning strategies used by
secondary school learners and the vocabulary teaching techniques adopted by their teachers.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13359 An Investigation into the Use of Vocabulary Learning Strategies and Vocabulary Teaching Techniques in Secondary Schools: The Case of Second Year Scientific Stream Students at Mouloud Quassem High School-Constantine [texte imprimé] / Hadjer Mazouz, Auteur ; Amel Soucha, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2020 . - 93 f. ; 30cm.

Titre : An Investigation of the role of context in Idioms comprehension Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Meriem Mosbah, Auteur ; Amel Soucha, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 77 f. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Science Studies An Investigation Role of Context Idioms Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This study investigates the role that the context plays in the comprehension of idioms. It deals with the difficulties that foreign language learners face when dealing with idioms. The aim of the study is to examine the role of the context and to show to which extent it is helpful to clarify the idioms meaning. To check the validity of our hypothesis a test has been administrated to twenty three students of English. It is made up of two parts. The first part consists of fifteen idioms out of context with their answer choices. The second part consists of the same idioms, but in a text. The results show that students can guess the real meaning or at least the approximate one if the idiom is a transparent or a semi-transparent one but the context does not help them with idioms which carry an opaque meaning and sometimes it gets them even more confused. Yet the overall statistics reveal that the context plays a role in clarifying the meaning of idioms and our hypothesis has been confirmed.
