Instrumented System), SIL (Safety Integrity LevelIndex. décimale : 660 Génie du transport Résumé : Security is often a concept used subjectively, and to translate it into operational
terms of decision support, it is essential to develop quantitative or half quantitative
approaches to assess safety.
The LOPA method is a half quantitative methods that can meet this requirement.
Choice and proper application of the LOPA method to determine the SIL (Safety
Inetgrity Level) required, based on the enormous challenges of process safety. The
key process is bound to the proper consideration of the probabilities of occurrence of
the identified scenarios and risk reduction factors associated with security functions
provided by the protective layers. In this work, we evaluate them by the fault tree
(AdD).
The principle of the LOPA method is to first identify the major scenarios of an
installation and to assess the consequences of these scenarios. Depending on the
severity of the consequences, the next step is to identify the different protection
layers provided to deal with these scenarios to assess the safety barriers performance
and specifically the SIS by the SIL calculation. - 89 f. ; 30 cm.
