It is a mountainous rainy area, and drained by numerous wadis and greeks mainly fed by excess water from heavy rains (more than 850 mm/year). The Zhor wadi, with permanent flow, is the main water course in the region. At the proposed dam site, it drains a 96 km2 watershed.
