The word that would be able to account for the work, the man and the writing in question in this research would be an odyssey. The texts and the complex course of the author are located at the polysemous cross of the lexeme whose different meanings intertwine and refer to both the trip, the peregrination, the adventure, the journey; but also the pitfalls, the tests of change, the remoteness, flight, rupture, exile, an endless movement and an unfinished quest, which is manifested through characters, figures, themes, spaces, the narrators, the genres, the registers, as well as the general movement of the work journey as a writer. Salim Bachi is the image of his writing, his texts, his characters and even more so of his city Cyrtha which reflects his personality. The work is haloed by the psychological, emotional, existential and spiritual resentments of the author that are the result of different experiences in Algeria and in France. His exile can be seen as a painful initiation both physically and psychologically that has led man to a different state and leads to an individual and literary renewal. Thus, our thesis is based on the idea that there is a before and an after in the production of the author. This break, visible and readable in his texts, is in our opinion, as much a personal and an intellectual journey that led the individual to a fundamental reformulation of his being. |
