The medicinal plants represent an immense source of bioactive molecules, endowed with numerous biological activities. The present work concerns of photochemistry study of flavonoids isolated from Thymus serpyllum, Thymus algeriensis, and Salvia officinalis, and an evaluation of their antioxidant and antibacterial activities.
The rate of total phenols ranged from 16, 64 to 25,47 mg GAE / g extract, whereas the rate of flavonoids is 1,7 to 2,4 mg QE/ g extract. The antioxidant activity is seems very important, whose the results vary from 88% to 92% for T. algeriensis, 81% to 92% for T .serpyllum, and 87% to 92% for S. officinalis.
The results of antibacterial activity showed that luteolin and its derivatives have significant inhibitory effect against the bacterial species tested. |
