Résumé : |
The present study investigates the application of the reinforcement theory in middle schools and
its role in teaching especially in “English as a foreign language”. In this study, the researcher
aims at finding out the relation between reinforcing and academic/behavioral
achievement/regulation in learning English as a foreign language. For this reason, it has been
hypothesized that if teachers are applying the reinforcement theory explicitly/daily in English
classrooms, the students would show a remarkable academic and behavioral progress. The
research scope requires using a teachers’ questionnaire and a classroom observation as main
research tools. The teachers’ questionnaire would help the researcher to get clear data about the
teachers’ knowledge of the reinforcement theory, its basics, techniques, and application; it is
handed to 20 teachers of English in middle schools at the level of Constantine down town. On
the other hand, a classroom observation is conducted in El Khadija Middle School in Constantine
down town also to observe the practical/daily application of the reinforcement theory. The results
are partially in direction with the research hypothesis; they confirm that after applying the
theory, pupils have shown a development in the pedagogical and behavioral performance |
