The reason behind dealing with this research is to determine the undoubted importance of
advertising slogans and their translation in our present life. Besides, to investigate the
strategies used by Master One English Students while translating them from English into
Arabic. In order to test this hypothesis “if the students are aware of these strategies, the target
audience will be affected positively”, a research tool in the form of a written test in which
twenty advertising slogans have been selected to be translated from English into Arabic. After
analyzing the students’ translations, it is confirmed that the mistakes committed are due to
their ignorance of the appropriate strategies while transmitting those advertising slogans from
English into Arabic, and they are unfamiliar with such a type of translation. Besides, it’s due
to the lack of cultural background of the English language which leads to an inadequate
translation. Although, the students’ failure in this task, the translation of some of them were
acceptable which means that the ones who failed can put an end to this problem definitely |
