Résumé : |
The present study covers the role of motivation in enhancing students’ spoken fluency. It
introduces some language activities that promote this skill and improves students’ proficiency. In
this study, we aim at enhancing students’ fluency in the oral skill through extrinsic and extrinsic
motivation and suggesting that motivating students is the key concept to improve their spoken
fluency.
The problem we are confronted with in this research is the kind of relationship between
learners’ motivation and their speaking skill. It was hypothesized that if the students’ motivation
in the classroom increased, they would improve spoken fluency. We have adapted descriptive
methodology of investigation with regard to the requirements of the present research work. To
carry out our study, two questionnaires were submitted to a sample of third year students
(40 students in the Department of Foreign Languages at University Mentouri Constantine)and a
group of teachers (10 teachers who teach Oral Expression subject in the Department of Foreign
Languages at University Mentouri Constantine),to confirm our hypothesis .The results obtained
using the two means of research (the students’ questionnaire, and the teachers’ questionnaire)
provided us with a clear idea about the significant role played by the teacher in the oral
classroom and its effects on students’ motivation to learn and speak the English language. In
other words, there is a positive correlation between motivation and spoken fluency enhancement. |
