The present research aims at reporting on teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the
adoption of blended learning method to enhance students’ vocabulary acquisition. The
underlying hypothesis is that if teachers at the university “des Frères MentouriConstantine1”
adopt the blended learning method in their EFL classes; students’ vocabulary acquisition
would enhance. The research has taken place in the Department of Letters and English
Language, faculty of Letters and Languages, University des “Frères MentouriConstantine1”.
A group of 24 learners selected randomly from a total population of ≈ 99 master 1 students
have been used as a sample in the present study. In order to reach the aim of this study,
answer the research questions, and attempt to confirm the validity of the hypothesis, the
researcher uses two questionnaires for both teachers and students. Both questionnaires aim at
gathering data about teachers’ and students’ opinions concerning the adoption of blended
learning to enhance students’ vocabulary acquisition. The findings of the present study
confirm the hypothesis and indicate that both teachers and students call for the adoption of
blended learning in EFL classes to foster students’ vocabulary acquisition. Therefore, it is
recommended that committees in charge at the Department of Letters and English Language,
Faculty of Letters and Languages, university des “Frères MentouriConstantine1” should
implement blended learning in the English language curriculum to improve the learning
process in general and vocabulary acquisition in particular. |
