This dissertation aims at investigating the use of Task-Based Language teaching to
improve English language learners speaking skill. Actually, this paper is an attempt to
give a solution to middle school teachers for some of the problems pupils face during
speaking English. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to approve the following
hypothesis: if teachers use Task-Based Language Teaching in the classrooms, learners will
develop their speaking proficiency. To test this hypothesis, this research is conducted on
a sample of 31 third year middle school pupils to whom a questionnaire is administered.
Besides, another questionnaire is directed to five English language teachers. These
questionnaires are composed of two sections representing the two variables: Task-Based
Language Teaching and the speaking skill. The results obtained reflect that the use of taskbased language teaching in English language classrooms helps the learners develop their
speaking proficiency |
