Résumé : |
This dissertation aims at demonstrating the importance of various forms of oral tradition such as
legends, myths, songs and proverbs in Ngugi's Petals Of Blood. Adopting the socio- historical
approach, it attempts to show that the multiple forms of orature doesn't merely have an aesthetic
appeal but it is a developed art that have a great role in fullfiling the writer's aims. From one
hand, it gives an African touch to the literary writing especially to the African novel written in a
foreign language. In the other hand, it surves the thematic intersts of the writer(alienation,
dispossession, identify, and change).
This research seeks to spot the light on Ngugi's adaption to different forms of the African oral
lore in his novel and how does it help him to sharpen his style as an African novelist and to
demonstrate his commitments to a certain cause particularly the one relate to the rehabilitation of
African identity. |
