Résumé : |
The research in hand aims at investigating the effectiveness of teaching spelling rules to
students so as to reduce their spelling mistakes and enhance their writing outcome. The target
population of this study is second year students in Constantine 1 University during the
academic year 2012/2013. In order to verify the validity of our hypothesis, two means of
research were used: a teachers' questionnaire and a students' test. The results obtained from
both means have strongly confirmed the hypothesis we set in our study: teaching spelling
rules improves spelling. This study also investigates the correlation between spelling ability
and students' writing performance; the thing which also has been proved to be significant.
Therefore, this thesis can be considered as an appeal for action for all teachers in general and
teachers of writing and grammar in particular to take into consideration teaching spelling rules
in their programs, because it has been proven to be both effective and efficient. |
