Résumé : |
This study probes into the African Americans’ military status during their
enlistment in the Second World War which helped produce a stimulus for civil rights.
This study is divided into three chapters. The first one covers briefly the history of
African Americans’ segregation under Jim Crow laws that became legalized in the
Plessey v. Ferguson case of 1896. The second chapter investigates the African
Americans enlistment in World War II, and their belief in the Double V campaign.
Finally, the third chapter weighs up the outcome of the African American enlistment
in World War II and the impact of the Cold War on African Americans’ racial fight. It
also appraises blacks’ biggest achievement in the military sphere. |
