Pound devoted several parts of his long poem The Cantos to show the importance of the Confucian ideals to prevent the western civilization from decaying. Pound’s striking use of Chinese characters and his way of retelling the history of ancient China based on the Confucian teachings made it possible to twentieth century western readers to understand how to maintain prosperous human relationships and then to find solutions to the problems of oppression and violence.
