Résumé : |
The aim of the present research is to investigate second year students‟ translation of verb
collocations, at the University of Frères Mentouri Constantine. It mainly attempts to identify
the strategies used by students in their translation process of the verb collocations „to take‟
and to „make‟. To conduct this study, two research tools are used, a questionnaire and a test.
Administered to a sample of sixteen students, the questionnaire is used to know the students‟
perceptions towards translation in general, and collocations in particular. The students‟ test
consists of translating sentences with the verb collocations „to take‟ and „to make‟ into
Arabic. It aims at highlighting the translation strategies used during the task. The research
data and findings revealed that most of students are unfamiliar with translation of verb
collocations and they need to learn more about them. However, they can translate verb
collocations “to take” and “to make” easily using free translation strategy. |
