Résumé : |
The aim of this study is to introduce nonverbal communication to students mainly since they are sometimes victims of lack of vocabulary and could hardly express themselves in some situations, or could be misunderstood in some other situations, the thing which leads them to use nonverbal codes to support their position. These gestures are introduced and very well organized in the first chapter according to their correct channels to precise the variety of forms under which nonverbal behavior could be shown or expressed. Furthermore, the problems some individuals may encounter both in communicating and interpreting nonverbal language are exposed too. This chapter proposes also some ways to improve nonverbal skills and how to become a good decoder and a good encoder of nonverbal signals. As a survey seemed to be a necessary framework and as a reference in order to have a measure of the current practice in relation to the officially prescribed objectives of the course, an investigation was led in the second chapter through questionnaires and a test to build up the expression of some teachers and students difficulties in using nonverbal communication, and to specify the ways to follow for the improvement of nonverbal self expression. The results obtained from the analysis of this questionnaire allow us to make some remarks which are supposed to appear in details in the last chapter.
It is hoped that this study would arouse a revival of interest within teachers of English oral expression module and would be beneficial to the future of nonverbal communication which will be a useful approach to help students develop their decoding and encoding skills, and to give them the opportunity to use the non-spoken language from the first year licence |
