Résumé :	This research attempts to investigate the problems and difficulties that Master One Linguistics and Applied Languages students face when translating proverbs from English into Arabic and vice versa. The present study uses a translate test as its main research tool. This test consists of ten Arabic proverbs to be translated to English and ten English proverbs to be translated to Arabic. The sample of this study is made up of twenty two Master One students at the Departmentof English at Mentouri BrothersUniversity. Thecurrent research aims at shedding light at the problems that Master one students face when translating proverbs especially the cultural problems. The obtained resultsshow that the cultural background of the students is limited, consequently, most of them used word for word as a strategy to translate proverbs given to them in the test . The research hypothesis has been confirmedto a large extent.
