Résumé : |
This present dissertation, a total of three chapters, is an attempt to investigate the
Israel lobby and its enormous power over the policymaking process in America, especially
foreign policy field. The focus is on how this lobby penetrates the lines of politicians and
made them a means to achieve its goal and serve the lobby agenda.
From the day of its creation 1948, the state of Israel succeeded in promoting its
friendship with the United States to the climax. This special relationship had been constructed
through the hard work of the Israel lobby in America.
This lobby has effective influential members within Congress and the executive branch to
ensure that Israel remains militarily and economically strong. The Israel lobby, despite its
small members in comparison to other lobbies, possesses advantages in those key areas that
are considered essential for an effective interest group. The Israel lobby has focused to target
a large number of members who are wealthy and highly regarded in their communities, a
grass roots organization that is large and vocal, significant access to political leaders, an
effective training program to lobby legislators; and general public support. However, many
critics are raised that the Israel lobby is an effective arm of the Israeli government which
embarrassingly manipulates the political process whenever it decides that there is a threat to
Israel's interests. This paper will examine the lobby origins, its structure and agenda, and its
lobbying techniques to better understand why the Israel lobby is considered by many to be the
most influential lobby in the U.S. Congress |
