It ai ms to d es crib e tw o v ariabl es: praise expressi ons as the ind ep end ent v ariabl e and the learn ers’ oral participation as the d ep end ent v ariabl e, and to id entify the c orrelation b et w e e n the m. Data w er e g ath er ed thr oug h ad ministering tw o qu estionnaires. One for the tea ch er’s ( a sa mpl e of el e v en tea ch ers of different m o dul es) and the oth er to s e c o n d year English lan gua g e learners ( sa mpl e of 7 0 stud ents) at the d epartm ent of English, univ ersity of Constantine , Algeria. The results o btain ed rev eal ed a positiv e significant c orrelati on b et w e e n prais e expressi ons in incr easin g the le v el of learn ers’ oral participation in the classr o o m, the fact that all our teac h ers a gr e ed upon. On the b asis of our results w e c o nfir m the i mp ortanc e of the effe ctiv e us e of praise insid e the classr o o m to m otivate learn er’s to ex ert m o r e eff ort and a ctiv ely participate in the v ari ous tasks and activities, s o effe ctiv e learning can tak e plac e and learners c an attain high lev el of ac hi e v e m e nts.
