Résumé :	This study analyzes US-Iran relations and the development of the Iranian Nuclear Program between 1979-2001 from a historical perspective by showing their cooperation and conflict on a number of issues, but primarily in regard to nuclear technology. It starts with a historical background of US foreign policy toward Iran after the Second World War because American conduct in the Middle East during the Cold War era aimed at securing its national interests in the region from the expansion of the Soviet Union. This research also focuses on US-Iran relations after 1979, which proves a serious setback in their relations. In addition, this study discusses how Iran has become a major foreign policy issue for American administrations following the seizure of the American Embassy and Iran-Iraq war. Finally, it addresses Iranian intentions for developing and restarting its nuclear technology, which becomes a major problem for the United States.
