Résumé : |
For a good understanding and a significant interpretation of the American Drama during the
1950’s, it is necessary to shed some light on the historical background of America after the second world
war. This period was characterized by many intellectual and political changes.
This dissertation proposes to draw some parallel between two far removed eras in the history of
America. The first one era is in 1692 in Salem and the second one is in the 1950’s. The 1950’s were
featured by the appearance of what is known as Mc Carthy witch-hunts. A movement that reflects the
hysteria and the paranoia of Americans during this period.
The present work adopts a historical and a psychoanalytical approach, which deliver much more
details about how mccarthyism has shaped the lives of many Americans |
