Résumé : |
Writing is classified among the most important skills in academic settings because many tasks
are based on it. Perhaps, the most crucial one is that teachers assess their students through
writing. Hence, students always seek for effective ways to correct their mistakes , to improve
their pieces, and to get good marks. Revising is one step of the writing process. It includes
many strategies that can help students minimize mistakes and thus produce efficient pieces
of writing. The present study aims at investigating the effect of the revising stage on students’
final drafts. Our main objective is to collect data about students’ knowledge and actual use of
revising strategies. It seeks to raise awareness about the central importance of revising as a
means to develop students’ writings. At the same time, we want to check if students
regularly use revising strategies or not. We hypothesise that students tend not to use revising
strategies appropriately which results in poor essays. We have administered a students’
questionnaire as as a data collection tool to find out the students’ opinions concerning the
impact of the revising stage on students’ final drafts. The results of the questionnaire showed
that most students, although they value revising, do not apply appropriate strategies to review
their essays, or they do not revise regularly. |
