Résumé : |
This study aims at investigating the teachers‟ and students‟ perceptions of influence of
punctuation on EFL students‟ writing. It aims also to reveal the difficulties students face in
using punctuation marks, and to know if students are aware of the importance of
punctuation in conveying the right meaning or not. This study based on two questionnaires.
One addressed to the teachers of “Written Expression”, and another to a sample of 30
second year students. The aim of the questionnaires is to collect information about the role
and importance given to punctuation by both the students and the teachers in writing, and
explore their attitudes and opinions about the teaching and learning of writing skill as well
as about the influence of punctuation on EFL writing.
The analysis of the questionnaires shows that both students and teachers regard
punctuation as an important aspect to enhance the learners‟ writing. It helps to achieve
clarity and to convey a particular meaning rather than another. |
