Résumé : |
The present research examines the struggle of the British women‘s suffrage movement
to achieve the right to vote in which it focuses on the long journey of this movement to reach
their goals. In addition to that, it tends also to highlight this struggle of women to get equality
and to transform their status in society e.g. getting higher education, getting jobs and to have
equal franchise. Not until the First World War did women start working outside and prove
their capacity and get respect in Britain. This fact changed the public opinion and encouraged
the British government to give women over thirty the female suffrage by the Act of the
Representation of the People in 1918. Moreover, the main objective of this research is to
show that the women‘s suffrage movement was the voice that pushed women to become
independent, and that created a world where men and women share not only children and
home but duties and rights as well. |
