Résumé :	The present study investigates „master one‟ students at the department of English, University of Constantine 1, awareness of the difference between translation and transliteration and the effect of their awareness on their translation of British historical terms. The study attempts to answer the following questions: -To what extent are students aware of the difference between translation and transliteration? And -To what extent does students‟ awareness of the difference between translation and transliteration affect their translation of British historical terms? A questionnaire and a test have been administered to a sample of nineteen „master one‟ students at the department of English, University of Constantine 1. The results of both research tools indicate that the majority of students are unaware of the difference between translation and transliteration and that their lack of awareness does not affect negatively their translation of historical terms. Therefore, the first hypothesis is confirmed and the second one is disconfirmed.
