Résumé : |
The thesis studies the depiction of female and male characters in classic and
contemporary fairy tales. It focuses mainly on the development of the female character and
how it has changed over time explaining the evolving of children’s literature from oral to
written. Additionally, it examines the characters and symbols in Grimm’s fairy tales
“Rapunzel”. They are German famous writers who collected the oral fairy tales and have
written them in one book. It also examines Disney’s animated movie “Frozen”. Which is a very
popular animated movie because of the different elements it represents associated with
feminism. The thesis studies both stories from a feminist standpoint. It adopts the 2nd wave
feminist approach to figure out whether Disney has broken gender stereotypes represented in
the classic fairy tale or not. |
