Résumé : |
Vocabulary is the most important part in learning a language. Learners feel bored
when learning vocabulary because of the traditional method used in teaching, which
creates several problems with other skills. Language games can attract students to
focus more on learning because they do not feel that they are forced to learn, which
make them motivated and enable them to acquire new vocabulary. This study aimed
at evaluating the potential of vocabulary games in foreign language learning and to
prove that language games are beneficial to enhance second year middle school
learners’ vocabulary acquisition. To achieve the main aim of our study, we relied on
two means of research. First, teachers’ questionnaire is given to English Middle
School teachers, it investigates the teachers’ attitudes about using language games in
teaching/learning vocabulary, how they use them and which kind of games they use.
Also, it helps in collecting data about the techniques and strategies used by the
teachers in helping students to memorize words. The questionnaire helps in designing
the test that is given before and after the treatment. The results of our research are in
the direction of our hypothesis “If English teachers at Leila Benzekri Middle School
in Constantine use language games in the classroom, their learners would improve
their vocabulary acquisition”. |
