Résumé : |
The present study is conducted to explore the correlation between Emotional Intelligence
(EI)and academic achievement. This topic has attracted a lot of attention in the
academicliterature. Moreover, it has been observed that EI affects the person’s individual
andprofessional success. To examine the correlation between EI and academic achievement, it
ishypothesized that (NH) there is no correlation between EFL First Year students’ EI scores
andtheir grades. In an attempt to test the hypothesis, a sample of 24 First Year students from
the Department of English, University of Constantine 1 are chosen;an EI test is used as a
means to gather the data. The results obtained from the test are analyzedand correlated to their
grades. Results of the Pearson Correlation which was applied toexamine the relationship
between students EI test scores and their grades show that: r = 0.9rejects the NH in favour of
the AH which stipulates that there is a significant strong positivecorrelation between students
EI and academic achievement |
