The present study aims at investigating the use of collaborative learning teaching techniques to improve
student speaking ability. It shows how the teachers include this technique in their classes and how students
react to it. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to test the following hypothesis: “if the teachers use
collaborative learning in their teaching process, the students speaking performance would be improved”.
This research is conducted of a sample of 42 1st years master students at the Department of Letters and
English Language, Frére Mentouri University, Constantine, Algeria. Also, two questionnaires are directed
to the students and the teachers. In comparison to the result, we can say that the use of collaborative learning
has a positive effect on student speaking ability. So, it can enhance their speaking. The obtained results
would guide us to provide the student with the necessary method to develop their speaking ability. |
