The present research study investigates the impact of code-switching on the students’ learning
process. It aims to identify the reasons behind using this language attitude. It also attempts to
identify the extent to which code-switching may affect the students’ learning process.In order
to carry out our research, we hypothesize that, “if students suffer from the lack of vocabulary
and linguistic competence, they will go through the use of code-switching”. In light of this, two
questionnaires have been used: a questionnaire for students and a questionnaire for teachers.
The students’ questionnaire aims to collect information on the students’ knowledge and beliefe
regarding the use of code-switching and the reasons behind using such a phenomenon. The
Teachers’questionnaire aims to collect information on the teachers’ perceptions related to the
students’ use of code-switching and identify its impact on the learning process. The obtained
results confirm that students resort to code-switching due the lack of vocabulary knowledge in
the target language.Yet, code-switching is also considered as an obstacle because it breaks
down the target language |
