Nowadays in the fields of teaching and learning, speaking is considered as an important
aspect in teaching a foreign language. Teachers use Group Work Discussion in order to
motivate their students to learn and develop their oral proficiency. The present study aims at
investigating qualitatively the impact of Group Work Discussion on developing students'
speaking skill. The underlying hypothesis is that teachers believe that group work discussion
would improve students' speaking skill.The educational setting in which this study takes
place is the Department of Letters and English Language, University des frères Mentouri,
Constantine. In order to achieve the aim of the undertaken research, answer the research
questions and attempt to confirm the validity of the stated hypothesis a questionnaire is
used as a research tool and administered to 9 Oral Expression teachers. The results obtained
from teachers’ questionnaire has shown that the majority of teachers are aware about the
significance of Group Work Discussion activity in learning a foreign language. Likewise, the
majority of teachers reflect positive attitudes concerning the implementation of Group Work
Discussion strategy for better oral performance. |
