Résumé : |
The reading skill is the basis for students learning. It is the sensitive part in learning the
foreign language. However, students are not aware about its vital role in the process of
learning and mainly its effectiveness in promoting vocabulary and background knowledge. In
order to raise students’ awareness about the effectiveness of reading and how they get
motivated, we have conducted an exploratory research that tackles a strategy to make learners
engaged readers. This study aims at investigating teachers’ and students’ views about book
clubs as a way to promote learners’ motivation towards reading. We have started the study
with the following hypothesis: if the EFL learners are involved in various book clubs, their
reading motivation would be improved. To check the validity of the hypothesis, we have
designed two questionnaires; the first one is for English language teachers and the other one
for Master twostudents. After analyzing the obtained data from both questionnaires, the
results prove our hypothesis about the effectiveness of book clubs in promoting students’
motivation towards reading |
