Résumé : |
A lot of students suffer from spelling mistakes by writing words incorrectly. They use autocorrection which corrects the words they write; it predicts what they are willing to write and
generate it in a well-spelled form. This function is found in every device’s keyboard (phones,
computers). This research aims to check whether the student of English in UMC recognize/use the
correction technology called “Autocorrection” or not, and what impact does it have on the students
who use it. One of the other purposes of this research is tackling the difficulties that students face
in the writing process, listing the types of spelling errors. We hypothesize that students who rely
on the auto-correction are more likely to make more spelling mistakes than the ones who do not
use it. A questionnaire administered to the (45 Master two Students of Linguistics and Applied
Language Studies at the department of English University Mentouri, Constantine 1) is the first tool
used in order to investigate their familiarity with the auto-correction and their levels in English,
and what affects their writing. A test administered to the same students is the second tool used to
collect data about levels in spelling, it is a list of 12 misspelled words and they have to pick the
correct ones. The results obtained from this research work show that most of Master two English
students find difficulties in spelling, they also recognize and use auto-correction and when used
excessively it affects their writing, by causing more spelling mistakes. |
