Technology has changed our way of living as it has conquered the world and almost
everything functions with it. Technology has entered the educational field with a number of
pedagogical materials, from which we can mention audio-visual aids. These materials are,
supposedly, of a great help in the teaching/learning process. Hence, to verify the matter, this
research work is produced to check the teachers/learners points of view concerning audiovisual aids mainly YouTube in the teaching/learning of the English vocabulary. Therefore, it
is hypothesised that teachers and learners hold positive attitudes towards the use of YouTube
as an audio-visual aid in the teaching/learning of vocabulary. To realise this piece of work
two questionnaires are addressed to OE teachers and third year LMD students of English at
Frères Mentouri University, Constantine 01 to find out whether YouTube avails the
acquisition of vocabulary for students and eases the process for teachers. The findings have
revealed the effectiveness of implementing YouTube as an audio-visual aid to teach/learn
vocabulary. Furthermore, the results have shown the teachers’ and learners’ awareness about
the importance of such aid ,as well, how they are in favor of utilising it if provided at
universities. Thus, the present research hypothesis is approved. |
