Résumé : |
The present work aims at presenting the importance of using the brainstorming strategy in writing.
It shows how the effective use of such a method helps in improving the students’ writings. To
attain such aim, it is hypothesized that First year students of English would promote their
academic writing when they are likely aware about the importance of using the brainstorming
technique. To investigate this research hypothesis, a questionnaire has been administered to
written expression teachers at the Department of Letters and English, Mentouri UniversityConstantine 1, in addition to a classroom observation. The results obtained from the
questionnaire revealed that freshmen are taught the brainstorming method and are aware of
the impact that it plays in writing. The findings of the questionnaire and the classroom
observation reveal that students are motivated to improve their writing skill; however,
teachers have to remind students about brainstorming when it comes to practice. Therefore,
students need intensive practice in order to master the brainstorming technique effectively and
at the same time enhance the quality of their writing |
