This paper tries to investigate whether teachers at L’Arc en Ciel private school know about
the effectiveness of using children songs as a means to improve young learners’ English
language vocabulary and if these songs influence children’s motivation to learn English or
not. For that it was hypothesized that the use of children’s songs by English as a Foreign
Language (EFL) teachers at L’Arc en Ciel private school in Constantine would help in raising
young learner’s motivation and interest to enrich their vocabulary. In order to check the
hypothesis, and due to the constraints induced by the pandemic, the use of teachers’
questionnaire was considered the most suitable methodological procedure. The questionnaire
was given to eleven randomly selected teachers at L’Arc en Ciel private school, Constantine.
The analysis of the data revealed that most of the learners have a positive attitude towards
having children’s songs as a teaching tool to enhance their vocabulary. Thus, the results
reveal the importance of integrating such songs in EFL classes as a motivational strategy. This
has confirmed to some extent the hypothesis. |
