Résumé : |
This study is intended to investigate the effect of mobile learning applications, specifically
word-up application, as an aid to enhance the students’ vocabulary since it is important in
developing language skills. Using mobile learning applications helps the students to practice
and learn new vocabulary because having an extensive vocabulary supports them to learn with
clarity. This research aims at investigating the effect of mobile learning applications and word
up application to enhance the learners’ vocabulary and to test the study’s hypothesis which is
“If EFL learners use word-up application regularly, their vocabulary knowledge would
increase.” That is to say, if teachers present word up application as a tool to be used inside
and outside the classroom, then students would retain and remember words easily and, thus,
enrich their vocabulary.; two questionnaires have been administered to intermediate level
students and their teachers, and a quasi-experiment (pre-test and post-test) is designed to test
the students’ performance before and after using the word-up application. The results of the
present study show that word-up application is beneficial since it can aid to motivate the
students to keep learning new vocabulary even after classes. Eventually, this technique can be
suggested to the teachers as a new strategy that would motivate the students and make their
vocabulary learning different, which, in turn, can prepare them to learn with the teacher or
independently. Therefore, the present study’s hypothesis is confirmed |
