Résumé : |
he Speaking skill is a major element in foreign language learning. And, because of their
inhibition, low or uneven participation, grammatical mistakes, anxiety, mother tongue use,
some students do not master this fundamental skill. For this reason, the use of helpful strategy
is needed in order to encourage students to speak with high level of performance and
confidence. Hence, the aim of the present study is to shed light on using social networks and
its relationship with speaking skill through teachers’ and students’ attitudes. Therefore, it is
hypothesized that if teachers and students hold positive attitudes towards the social networks,
they would use it to enhance students’ speaking skill. For this, the researcher conducted two
questionnaires; one was given to a sample of five (5) Oral Expression teachers and another to
twenty (20) third year students at the Department of Letters and the English Language, Des
Frère Mentouri University, Constantine. The results of the analysis of the questionnaires
reveal that the majority of teachers and students agree on the fact that social networks are
effective in helping students to practice speaking, and that they use them to develop the
students speaking skills, and this confirm our hypothesis. |
