Résumé : |
The current research aims to investigate teachers’ and students’ attitudes towards the role that
language games play in enhancing students’ speaking skill. The underlying hypothesis is that,
teachers think that the application of language games in their OE classes would develop second year
LMD students’ speaking skill. The educational setting in which this study takes place is the
Department of Letters and English Language, University des Frères Mentouri, Constatine 1. 70
students are selected randomly from a total population of 352 Second year LMD students in addition
to 15 teachers of Oral Expression as samples in the present study. In order to achieve the purpose of
the undertaken study, answer the research questions and attempt to verify the validity of the stated
hypothesis, one tool of research is used; teachers’ questionnaire and students’ questionnaire.
Teachers’ questionnaire aims at exploring teachers’ attitudes towards the role of language games in
enhancing students’ speaking skill. In addition, students’ questionnaire seeks to check their opinions
about language games and how they affect their speaking skill. The findings of the study are in the
direction of the hypothesis and indicate that when teachers apply language games in their Oral
Expression classes, second year LMD students’ speaking skill would develop. Moreover, teachers
are recommended to respect the necessary criterion while choosing the suitable language games. On
this account, teachers should consider incorporating language games in their OE courses. |
