Résumé : |
This dissertation focuses on the Kenyan society, and the different fundamental
changes portrayed by the Kenyan writer Ngūgī Wa Thiong'o in his novel Matigari.
The aim of this study is to investigate neocolonialism‟s effects that led the Kenyan
individual to experience the process of liminality. Based on Frantz Fanon‟s and Homi
Bhabha's ideas of “the inferiority complex” and “hybridity,” the postcolonial situation
and neocolonial practices have been analyzed in relation to liminal experiences in the
novel. This study demonstrates that the post-colonial Kenyan society that was
governed by neocolonial system made the Kenyan individual confused about the
present he is living, and the future he wants to reach. This confusion made him accept
and adapt to new changes in the future. |
