This research is set to investigate the effect of teachers‘ immediate error correction on
Algerian second- year university students‘ learning motivation during their oral production.
Its main aim is to identify everything that relates to errors and how immediate error correction
influences students psychological side and performance as well during their delivery of
speech. The needed data were collected through a questionnaire which was described,
analyzed and discussed . The analysed data revealed that a considerable number of students
prefer immediate error correction though they paradoxically believe that it has a negative
impact on them from a psychological perspective: they claim that when the teacher motivates
them, they improve and have the desire to deliver more, but when he immediately intervenes
to repeatedly correct their language mistakes, he demotivates them, and they do not perform
well. This confirms our hypothesis which states that immediate error correction prevents
students from getting motivated and perform well in their oral production . |
