This paper illustrates how far Social Network Sites have influenced on foreign language
learning at present in order to develop third year EFL students’ speaking skills and its
effectiveness. Specifically, it seeks to determine whether those interactions through internet
are thought to be most helpful for the improvement of speaking skill or not. Moreover, this
study aims to find out the reasons why choosing this tool to improve English discussion
abilities rather than exercising on it at the classroom with the help of teachers and classmates.
In other words, this research will study and examine the different effects of social Network
sites on Third-year students’ learning progress and their advantages and disadvantages with
shedding some light on student achievement in oral expression lectures by data collection.
Data are collected by means of two questionnaires distributed to a random sample of (fifty
student) third year LMD students besides to ten teachers at Constantine University,
department of arts and English Language both are given a list of 15 questions. The
questionnaires are administered to check whether Social Network Sites influence on students’
speaking skill positively or it has no impact on their speaking behavior. The obtained results
of both students and teachers’ questionnaire show that students still need more practice ad
strategies besides to Oral Expression courses to enhance their performance in English
speaking skill. For that, they had chosen SNSs as a helpful means for them. Teachers also
argued that teachers cannot get sufficiency for students because of the schedule of courses
that’s why teachers advising their students to use SNSs in their positive side. The results
obtained, thus, confirm our hypothesis, stated from the beginning of the study, which says if
students using Social Network Sites they will develop their speaking skill |
