Résumé : |
One of the most prominent issues in the field of foreign language acquisition is the
importance of motivation in EFL classrooms. It has been accepted as one of the key factors
which contributes in the success or failure of foreign language learning. At the Department of
English at Constantine University, it is a fact that most students are not highly motivated to
learn English for some reasons. Given this fact, the aim of this research is to investigate the
students’ attitudes about the role of intercultural sensitivity in increasing the students’
motivation to learn English. Accordingly, we hypothesized that if the students are
interculturally sensitive, then their motivation would be increased. The educational setting in
which this study took place is at the Department of Letters and English language, at the
University of Mentouri Brothers/Constantine. A sample of thirty six Master One students of
English belonging to the said Department was selected to fill in the student questionnaire
which was mainly about eliciting their views as regards the effect of intercultural sensitivity
on language motivation. The finding of the investigation revealed that students are in favour
of the idea that intercultural sensitivity highly contributes in increasing the students’ foreign
language motivation. |
