Résumé : |
In the field of learning and teaching English as a foreign language, Cooperative learning is
considered as one of the most effective techniques in enhancing students’ writing skill. The
current study aims at investigating the nature of the relationship between the writing skill,
motivation and cooperative learning activities through teachers and students’ attitudes. In
other terms, it attempts to examine teachers and students’ attitudes towards the use of
cooperative learning as a motivational factor in fostering the students’ writing skill.
Accordingly, it is hypothesized that if Written Expression teachers hold positive attitudes
towards the use of cooperative learning as a motivational factor for teaching writing, this will
help second year students perform better in writing. One data gathering information tool is
used in this research, which is the questionnaire; one questionnaire was administered to 12
Written Expression teachers and another to a sample (31) of second year English students at
the Department of Letters and the English Language, University Des Frère Mentouri,
Constantine 1. The results obtained from the analysis of the questionnaires uncovered the
teachers and students’ positive attitudes towards the use of cooperative learning as factor
which motivates students to write and so develop the skill. Such results bear out the research
hypothesis. |
