when they render English legal terms into Arabic and the methods used to find the suitable
equivalent in the target language. The aims of this study are to examine the type of difficulty
Master one students face while translating legal terms and try to suggest solutions and identify
strategies that may help to limit or avoid these difficulties. We hypothesize that students
unfamiliarity with legal terms effect the translation‘s quality, and hypothesize that if students
have enough knowledge about legal terms, they will do well when translating. In this respect,
a test made up of ten sentences that contain ten legal terms is given to Master one students to
be translated. The data of the study consists ten legal terms and expressions translated by forty
First year Master students of English, at Mentouri university-Constantine. The results of the
study show that there are some problems; the analysis of the data confirms that students’
mistranslations are due to the lack of practice in translating legal texts and to their
unfamiliarity with legal terminology. Their translation inaccuracy is also due to their
ignorance of some legal concepts despite their use of dictionaries to help them. This can be
seen in the failure of the students‟ translation in getting the meaning, because the meaning of
some legal expressions is rarely literal.
It is recommended to avoid some translation techniques which do not give the desired result,
For instance, translating highly formal legal terms in the SL into an ordinary term in the TL,
using literal translation and ignoring context are commonly used among students when
translating legal terms. Furthermore, the lectures that the students are receiving seem to be
insufficient for a complete understanding of technical translation, particularly the legal ones.
Therefore, students should be equipped with more practice and the basic notions concerning
this kind of translation. At last, students should read as much as possible in order to
familiarize themselves with the principles of law and improve their abilities in translating it.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15807 Difficulties and Challenges Associated with English to Arabic Legal Translation. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study seeks to investigate the difficulties students may face when they translate
Arabic proverbs into English and vice versa and the methods used to find the suitable
equivalent in the target language. The data of the study consists of twelve proverbs ( six
arabic proverbs and the other ones are english proverbs) which translated by thirty First year
Master students of English, at university Mentouri Constantine. The aims are to examine the
type of difficulty First year Master students face while translating proverbs and try to suggest
solutions and identify strategies that may help to avoid these difficulties. In this respect, a test
made up of six English proverbs and six Arabic ones is given to First year Master students to
be translated. The results show that there are different problems in the process of translating
proverbs from English into Arabic and vice versa. Moreover, the findings show that the
translation into the first language is more successful than into foreign language. They also
confirm the hypothesis and reveal that ; First literal translation is the most reliable method in
the students translation, and the use of other translation strategies is limited and some of them
did not even translate. Second, language and culture specificity of proverbs affects students‟
productions negatively. Thus, translational competence which requires wide linguistic and
cultural knowledge is the significant element for successful translation.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15881 Difficulties and strategies in Arabic/English/Arabic Translation of proverbs : The case study of Master one Students at Mentouri University of Constantine [texte imprimé] / Rofaida Falouta, Auteur ; Ouahiba Largueche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 63 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Difficulties in Translating Kinship Terms English and Arabic. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Kinship terms are an area of linguistic and cultural differences between English and Arabic,
which is likely to create a translation problem for Algerian students. The present study aims
at investigating the difficulties that Master 2 students face when translating kinship terms.
Therefore, two main questions are put under investigation: What are the students’
perceptions of the problems that they face when they translate “kinship terms” from Arabic
into English? And, what are the causes of these difficulties? To answer these questions, a
sample of 20 second year Master students are requested to answer a questionnaire and take
a test. The aim of the questionnaire is to have insights about students’ problems in
translating kinship terms from Arabic into English, whereas the aim of the test is to
investigate their performance in translating kinship terms. The results obtained show that
the students succeeded in translating the Arabic kinship terms that have one English
equivalent, whereas they failed in the case of terms that have a specific meaning which
they incorrectly rendered by a generic meaning in TL.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13305 Difficulties in Translating “Kinship Terms” The Case of Second Year Master Students of English at The University of Frères Mentouri Constantine 1 [texte imprimé] / Saoussen Khalfaoui, Auteur ; Ouahiba Largueche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2020 . - 79 f. ; 30cm.

languages awareness of legal terms, and the different problems which the students may face
when translating different types of legal terms, We will try to test and evaluate their
awareness by examining their translation of English legal terms into Arabic, and vice versa.
The study is carried out through a test divided into two parts. The first part is a test of
knowledge in which the students answers twelve separate questions relying on their
background knowledge about legal terms. The second part is the translations of two legal texts
from English into Arabic and vice versa. The results of this research reveal two main causes
of students’ errors in translating legal terms. First, students adopt literal translation as the
main translation method.
Second, students do not give enough importance to legal terms are both a linguistic and a
cultural issue and are not just a matter of substituting words by their equivalents in the other
language.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10418 Difficulties in translating legal terms from english into arabic and vice versa : The case study of first year masters students, applied language studies at the department of english, university of constantine [texte imprimé] / Ouahida Boufrah, Auteur ; Ouahiba Largueche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2018 . - 71 f. ; 30 cm.
